Daniel Black quote
Government Road in downtown Kirkland Lake , Ontario; 1950s.
It reminded me of any small town. I especially like having a drug store in the picture.
Today most small town business streets are empty of the store owners who sold everything from cloths to hardware. They have been replaced by big box stores like Walmart.
The town I live in never had business streets, but Dennisport did. Gradually all the stores disappeared and were empty store fronts. Now it is booming again.
Hyannis is the big metropolis. It once had a downtown filled with stores. Few of the stores remain. Most people now shop at the mall.
I loved the square in the tow where I grew up.
