Gracie is now too muscular to get herself over the fence. She still tries and her paws reach the top but then she falls to the ground. That, of course, doesn’t stop her from trying again and again.

I too would be encouraged by kids who are still awed by fireflies. We have a concert on Friday night in one town and on Sunday night in another. Also, there is always baseball!

I don’t remember when they air-conditioned my movie theater. I know it was not when I still lived in Stoneham. I had the walk to and from the pool, all the way across town which erased the effects of the cool water.

The kids in my neighborhood, if they’re out, are in the backyards. The oldest is only 7 so they tend to stay close to home. The house next door is a rental and their kids do play in the street, and don’t move for cars. It is annoying.

My house is really nice and cool right now and has been all evening. I love it!!!

We always had Saturday matinee in summer. It was 20 degrees cooler inside! The walk to and from the theatre was horrid, though.
The kids in my neighborhood play outside all the time. Even today, in this heat, the boys are over in a neighbor’s side yard playing something that is supposed to be baseball but can’t because there are only 4 of them and wrestling is involved. The girls are at the other neighbor’s pool but they could just as well be playing with the boys or skateboarding or playing soccer or lacrosse in the street. We used to play badminton in the street but we didn’t use a net out of respect for the cars. :)
I broke down and lugged the AC unit up from the cellar. After much swearing and huffing and puffing it is in the window and chugging away noisily. But it’s blowing cold air and that’s all that counts.

I’m wondering if I should Christmas shop!

Maybe rain for us tomorrow, but the heat is also coming. It’s warm now, but still tolerable.

I know that mostly kids are inside now, and I think it’s sad. We loved playing outside, but parents are cautious about their kid’s safety and so don’t mind keeping them close.

We never had a movie on Sunday. That was church and family dinner time when I was a kid. I think I was around 10 or 11 when there was a Sunday afternoon movie on TV. I remember the first one was Lassie Come Home.

I think they had matinées on both Sundays and Saturdays when I grew up. We only had two tv channels and they rarely did send anything for children around that time.
Now days they show all films they have all day long so it just isn’t the same any longer.

Very little sounds from kids playing outdoors now days too, they are all sitting inside playing video games (or computer games or what ever it is called), How boring :-) :-)
